THERMOCOUPLE WIRE (DUPLEX TYPE)
Thermocouple Wire is one kind of thermocouple sensors that consist of two dissimilar metals joined together at the sensing point. It is insulated and covered by the materials such as PVC, Teflon, Glass Fiber, Silica Glass Fiber and Alumina, etc. The insulation of thermocouple wire is color coded for identifying thermocouple types. Refer to Wire Color Codes.
The difference between Thermocouple Wire and TC Extension/Compensating Cable is in the conductor combination and applications. Thermocouple wire is composed of solid wire, because of the feature of thermal Electro-Motive-Force(EMF). It is applied to make sensing probe of thermocouple sensors. Most of TC Extension/Compensating Cables are composed of stranded wire. Extension Cable is only used to extend the signal from the probe to the instrument, and cannot be used to make the sensing point.
